Project Purpose: To help organize a movement to build
personal, community, and environmental health.
Primary Approaches:
• Making multi-media presentations at schools and
in other group settings featuring character
performances and slide shows, along with songs
reinforcing key messages
• Having characters make guest appearances in
public service announcements and at events held
by our partner organizations (which all promote
3-D Health in some way)
• Providing resources online to help audience
members do things like make lifestyle changes,
design service learning projects, or get involved
with our partner organizations
• Selling Health League products like music, T-shirts,
stickers, and posters that reinforce our messages
Planned Characters: 8 in all, each initially played by Tyson
Weems, and each with a unique costume, props, skill set, persona,
and primary message, which include

• Developing healthy lifestyle habits and skills
• Understanding and promoting 3-D Health
• Learning about and otherwise taking responsibility for what we eat
• Being able to seize the power of the moment
• Taking on barriers to adopting healthy behaviors
• Recognizing and taking opportunities to be active each day
• Promoting environmental health as consumers and advocates
Goals:
• Increase the numbers of people and programs actively contributing
to 3-D Health
• Increase consumer support for goods made with in ways reflecting
appreciation of 3-D Health
• Improve awareness, beliefs, and attitudes about integrity,
mindfulness, balance, community, and possibility
• Decrease the incidence of adolescent obesity and Type 2 diabetes
Achievements/Objectives by Year
2009-2010 (developing and testing):
• Assembled a diverse and talented advisory team to help develop
content and delivery strategies
• Developed costumes, personalities, skills, props, and messages for 4
Health League characters
• Developed hand-outs to accompany presentations to help audience
members be in action
• Developed customizable presentations using appropriate
combintations of characters
• Delivered presentations at multiple camps and secondary schools
• Used surveys to evaluate immediate impacts
2011-2014 (evaluating, fine-tuning, and expanding)

• Develop costumes, personalities, etc. for remaining characters
• Deliver free and sponsored presentations at schools, parties, and
business conferences/meetings in Maine (2011), New England
(2012), and beyond (2013 and 2014)
• Accurately measure impacts of presentations and discussions on
knowledge, beliefs, attitudes, and short-term behaviors related
to food and activity
• Present evaluation findings at a national conference & publish
them in a peer-reviewed journal
• Recruit and train other presenters in order to expand message
delivery
